Perfect the Tasks
The other part of Among Us away from trying to work out who the imposters are is fulfilling the required tasks. Everyone apart from the imposters has to complete these tasks. So learning everything you can about the tasks can really help in identifying the nefarious gamers.
If you learn all about tasks, not only will you be able to complete them quickly and concentrate on singling out the imposters, but you will also discover how long a task takes to complete. Imposters regularly pretend to be completing tasks, so if you see someone finishing theirs too quickly, that could be a sign that they are not what they seem.
Who is Close to a Dead Body?
The first rule of solving a murder is to look to see who is close by. If you happen to enter a room and find a dead body â and someone else is going the other way â there is a good chance that the person fleeing has just committed the act and is one of the imposters that you are after.
You will automatically report the killing (if you are not an imposter as well) so someone exiting a room and not reporting anything should be an immediate red flag. There may be other reasons why this happens â and it is not impossible that the fleeing gamer just didnât see the body. But you should definitely keep an eye on them.
Be Wary of Wanderers
If someone is an imposter there is one thing that they are not worried about that everyone else in the game is. Theirs will be the carefree attitude of a gamer who knows for sure that they are not going to end up being killed themselves. There is no trepidation with these players, they can come and go as they please.
That lack of fear can sometimes result in imposters wandering about the place a little more than other players. They could just be biding their time to kill and disrupt the game but there might be a lack of direction in their gameplay. Look out for players who seem to be wandering around aimlessly, they could be just waiting for the chance to strike.
Watch Out for Players Keeping to Themselves
It is obvious why someone who is playing an imposter will want to keep away from large groups or keep to themself as much as possible. After all, itâs not very easy to murder a crewmate if you are always surrounded by lots of witnesses, is it?
If you spot that a player keeps away from the main groups of crewmates and prefers to stay around just small numbers or single players, it is a good chance that they are waiting for the chance to strike. You can always call an emergency meeting to discuss the matter if you are not completely sure.
Watch the Task Bar
As we all know, an imposter will not be completing any of the tasks during a game. But that is not to say that a gamer wonât make it look like they are completing tasks to throw you off the scent. Just standing next to panels will make it look like they are working when they are really not.
But there is a way to catch a sneaky imposter out. The green task bar at the top of the screen slowly fills up as the tasks are completed. This happens in real time, so you will be able to see if that character standing next to the panels supposedly working actually is â or if they are just pretending.
Beware of Silence
The best imposters are obviously tough to discover, as they are so good at masking their real intentions. So, to be good at Among Us you really have to master the art of seeing through their disguises. One way that imposters can be tripped up is when they regularly remain out of the main discussion.
Imposters will rarely call emergency meetings, in case they are found for what they really are. But they still have to be a part of the meeting. If a character is mysteriously quiet as the group discusses what is going on, it could be because they are the one that you are searching for.
Learn How to Be an Imposter
The best way to catch an imposter is to think like an imposter. If you can play one step ahead of an imposter and predict their every move, there is a good chance that you will be able to unveil them.
Knowing how an imposter acts is also incredibly useful when you are assigned as an imposter, of course!
